Kelantan Life style- no cinema
Just after having a chat with my friends at the hotmail messenger, a question comes out. we asked ourselves, when would Kelantan have its own cinema. Will Nik Aziz give permission for one cinema to be open to the public. The largest shopping mall (called kb mall) have been opened, but no cinema.
Tesco on the other hand will be opening soon. It would be a gold mine for spm graduate to find job vacancies. We the teenagers are now waiting for Pelangi Mall to open. Sadly, it is still under construction. if there is a cinema here, i would guarantee u…. thousands will come. But the Kelantan’s government is very worried and concerned. They believe that this will lead to social problems. What are they expecting? Sex in the cinema!!!or the stripper who strip!!
Yes i do admit, couples will make the cinema a spot for kissing and bla bla. But y stop us from getting a little bit of entertainment. If they do sex, i believe its not due to the cinema. Its due to the lack of education and parenting. y blame the cinema, when its not the cinema who cause all these social ills.
If we say that a cinema will cause social problems like free sex, then i supposed the kb mall should be closed for good, because if u can see there are hundreds of couple hanging out at this hot spot holding hands with a man, who she just met for quite a moment ago . Even my friend do that.Funny though.
So, y restrict a cinema to be open to the public. For god sake, Kelantanese teenagers are bored. There are more restaurants than activity centers. No wonder Kelantanese are getting fatter. Im not offending the kelantanese, but the food there are all sweet. Please though kelantanese, cut the sugar. And hopefully a cinema be opened.
Im totally bored living in Kelantan. The most we would enjoy is playing pool and snooker at KB MALL, and that’s it. Sort of yesterday, i went pooling with my friends and that was wonderful… pom pom pom.. there is also a bowling center there, totally crowded.
This picture down here is not me. But a friend of mine.
By the way… look at the picture closely…. u could see, almost all the table are all fully occupied. So popular!! luckily there is this snooker center for us to hang out. LOL
But still i do believe, this life is not all about entertainment. For those who are islamic, i would like to urge you, once in a blue moon let us hang out at the mosque…. do something good.. entertainment will just spice our life… but always remember that this life is just for a moment.

No lah, bro.
You just ate too much shitty dosage of propaganda from outside Kelantan, who like to see Kelantan in a shitty way.
The State Government doesn’t ban cinema.
Only that would be operators are required to :
1) get some lights on, not too dark like normal cinema, just dimmed in a sense that people could still see what others are doing no matter where they are seated.
2) segregate the audiences into different cinema halls for different sexes i.e. all female only, all male only, and all family only ( strictly no unisex / mixing cinema hall )
Seriously, like you, I really wish for a cinema in Kelantan.
To tell the truth, I don’t mind those regulations really.
I just want to watch great movies when they are newly out.
The only people who don’t seem to like the idea are the cinema guys.
They just don’t want to do business in Kelantan. Not that the state govt said ” no to all cinemas “.
The reason, either
1) they are afraid to be ridiculed for operating such cinemas ;
2) or not sure whether they could make good money with that ;
3) or worried that they have to spend more money to renovate their cinemas in accordance to such requirements,
honestly I have no idea !

wow!! but seriously, i ve heard about the segregation method…. but i juz can’t see it developing… ohh god it would be nice to juz have a cineplex here..

oh yeah, mimpi lar pelangi mall akan dibuka.
At least, tidak dalam jangkamasa terdekat ni.
Bukan still under construction, in fact dah siap lama daaa …
Masalahnya skang, takde orang nak sewa sebab tak konfiden dengan area tu. Dulu ade hankyuu jaya tapi dah lingkup, lepas tu naim jaya ikut lingkup, lepas tu lak The STore pun ikut gulung tikar kat situ. In other words, all the energy that used to gather there seem to have flown out to Kota Seri Mutiara, KB Mall and Jalan Pintu Pong area.
Kena plak Pelangi Mall ni tak ada Anchor Tenant berani nak masuk.
Kalu Kota Seri Mutiara, Anchor Tenant dia Renaissance Hotel and Billion.
KB Mall plak, Pacific.
p/s : Kalu ECONJAYA masuk, aku tabik spring ! Hahahaha

December 17, 2008 at 7.55p12
Nice article … what about futsal is it popular in KB too?
December 17, 2008 at 7.55p12
u bet there are. Basically there are several futsal centers around. have ur group assemble, collect some money…brace urself and go on and play. To ellisa, i ve been to Sarawak before, yes indeed there are cinemas around but im not sure about Sabah. In Sarawak basically during that time cinemas were towards bankruptcy due to the rampant pirated vcds and dvds.

hi what about bowling and roller skating? kelantanese like to play that too? are there any mcdonalds, starbucks, coffeebean there? is tanjung chat a nice place to hang out?
December 19, 2008 at 7.55p12
omg!!.. why are you so into Kelantan. But basically we do have bowling lanes here. One inside the mall, and the other one situated at the Perdana Sports Centre. The one in the mall is better compared to the other one. My friends and i would prefer more to go out and pool, more then to go out and bowl. About the rollerskating, its not quite a popular sport here. But some people they do skate. There are few nice gardens around, and you can go there and have a skate there. As for mcdonalds yes we do have it. Perhaps we dont have starbucks or even cofeebean, but you can choose to hang out at other kopitiam which is much better than starbucks in a sense of food variety, price, and comfort. Basically these kopitiam do provide a 24 hour service equipped with wi fi. Regarding about tanjung chat, that place is basically more to a housing estate. But it could be a cool place to hangout if you know where to do so. Near to the tanjung chat there is a garden with the name Tengku Anis Garden which is an appropriate place for recreation. Besides that there is also a sport complex in tanjung chat. By the way there are a swimming pool at the sport complex. Try and go check it out. And last but not least, i would like to suggest any of you interested in tanjung chat to go and drop by at the RFC Restaurant. The delicacies there are quite mouth watering. Please do order the chicken chop. nice

yeah lol am keen on Kelantan and all things Kelantanese hehe… thanks for all the great ideas! btw what do young Kelantanese that are really looking for recreation apart from pool playing or is pool playing the only thing!!! what about futsal is it cool there?
December 19, 2008 at 7.55p12
for real yes futsal is quite popular here. Since we didnt have much of a cinema or a night club, so most kelantanese : malay, chinese, or even the indian are tend to do more outdoor activities. but seriously we cant do the same activity all the time . Recently my friends and i, we ve been to the beach, PCB i tell you. Before that day, this beach was quite a beauty, but today the beauty was lesser due to the dumping of garbage. If you are in a mood of jagung rebus, air kelapa, or maybe some seafood than you can go there. The fresh air would help. Btw what does yk stands for?
December 22, 2008 at 7.55p12
hey Izwar! great comments …. btw yk stands for Yes Kelantan! I am a fan of this lightning state. Is it expensive to play futsal in KB? Are there many courts available… I may be thinking of going there to live man. Wanna check the place out first lol.
December 22, 2008 at 7.55p12
is the pelangi mall as mentioned opened yet?
December 22, 2008 at 7.55p12
compared to other states, futsal in KB would be cheaper. Yes there are a lot of courts available. And for your information, pelangi mall is not yet opened. I doubt it will not be opened. Pelangi mall was built by the Barisan Nasional. Since Pas won so the opening of it was postponed perhaps. That’s the propaganda ive been hearing lately.
December 22, 2008 at 7.55p12
oh ya one more thing. to just enjoy staying in a state like this one. you need to have a car and lots of friends. Dont expect much out of it. At first you’ll be feeling that this state is such a dull. But if you know how to live it, you’ll be enjoying it.
December 22, 2008 at 7.55p12
ic… so any futsal centres must have enough carparks… or else hard huh? what is nice to eat in kb?
